“The staff and volunteers were a blessing. It was absolutely overwhelming to see the love they (Staff and Volunteers) shared.”

Peyton's Story
Ogle Family Thankful for Ronald McDonald Family Room “Hearing that your child has cancer, that was the worst thing that happened to us,” says Stephanie Ogle. Shortly Like his dad, Peyton enjoys spending time on the golf course. He has his own golf clubs and his mom takes him to the driving range sometimes in between his clinic visits. The Ogle family uses the Ronald McDonald Family Room during those frequent visits to the hospital with Peyton. Mom Stephanie shares that when Peyton was in the hospital for five weeks “I did all my laundry in the Family Room," she says.
Stephanie says she was familiar with the Family Room, located on the 3rd floor of Children’s Hospital at Erlanger, as an oasis of calm that families can visit to grab a warm meal, relax and reenergize just steps away from the bedside of their loved one. “We knew about the Family Room. My mom got sick in 2005. She had a rare blood disorder too. She contracted pneumonia and went into the ICU. I would go there (Family Room) everyday to shower and do laundry. She died on December 18 of that year. I was so grateful for that room. I could stay in the hospital and didn’t have to leave her,” she continued. |
