What We Do

Helping families stay together

Helping a sick child fight their illness takes a big emotional toll on a family. Adding a financial strain can make it almost too much to bear. Our Ronald McDonald House and Ronald McDonald Family Room provide compassionate hospitality to families of hospitalized children daily.

The House offers all the comforts of home including restful places to sleep, spacious kitchens and dining rooms, entertainment rooms with play areas, a library, laundry facilities, playground and computer access.

Volunteers from the community prepare home cooked meals for dinner each evening in our spacious kitchen and a well-stocked pantry provides staples for guests to prepare their favorite breakfast or lunch.

Interaction with volunteers, staff and other guest families contribute to the supportive and positive environment, allowing families to focus on being close to their children.

Ronald McDonald House®

A 28-bedroom facility, each year serving over 500 families with critically ill or injured children undergoing inpatient and outpatient treatment at nearby Chattanooga hospitals.

Ronald McDonald Family Room®

A facility designed to be a respite area for those who are providing “around the clock” care for their loved ones. It is staffed daily from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. by volunteers and has around 18,000 visits from family members a year.

RMHC® Scholarship Program

Provides scholarships in our 19 county/four state RMHC service area to promising students who desire a college education and are eligible according to criteria based on academic performance, financial need and community service.
